Hello to new members! From Lisa N.

I would like to say hi to both Kelly and Laura! Thank you for joining the group.

I'd love to hear feedback from both of you regarding your interest in activities and what your availability might be. I am anxious to get things going so I hope to hear back from you soon!

I have one son who is 21 going on 22 months of age. He is social and talking and loves to play!

P.S. please feel free to share a little bit about yourselves and your little ones.

Hi. I have a daughter who is 19 months old. She hasn't interacted much with children of her own age but she gets very excited when she encounters another child at the beach or wherever we are.

I work a full-time job during the week so I'd love to do some activities in the early evening during the week or the weekend.

I am in the process of signing up my daughter for a parent/child swimming class at the Y. I'm just eager to find some friends for my daughter so she can interact and become social.

My husband works nights but has weekends off. We usually try to do family activities together at museums, parks or wherever.

Great to hear from you! I also currently work full time so would be interested in planning activities primarliy for evenings and weekends too!

Your little girl sounds adorable. My son is with my husband during the day and has a little bit of interaction with kids but most of his time right now is with adults. I know he would love to spend more time with little ones.

Please feel free to give your input and make suggestions as this group is brand new. I like your ideas so far!

Laura, please let us know your availability.

I will try to schedule something soon so we can all get aquainted! Perhaps we can meet at a park early in the day on a weekend. Have either of you been to the gwiz museum?

Playdate August 18 From Lisa N.

I recently posted a playdate on the event calender. I cannot tell if there is a place to respond if you are coming or not coming? Please respond in here as well so I know for certain, and also please let me know how it appears on your end. This is the first event that I posted on this website so I am just trying to figure out how it works.

Regarding the mall, I'll be waiting at the entrance to the mall outside Sears with my son. He has brown hair and is 21 months old. Thanks!

Hello. Sorry I didn't write sooner. I was out of town for the weekend. Wednesday sounds good. It will probably be a short visit because I like to have my daughter in bed by 8ish. My mother in law wanted to tag along with me but I'll tell her not to if you aren't comfortable with it.
My kiddo has a little bit of hair but it's growing! I'll meet you in front of Sears. Do you mean near where the Yoders store is?

Good to hear back from you. We can meet right outside the entrance to Sears (as you enter the mall from Sears). I'll wait there with my son in his stroller. There is a play area close by. Of course you can bring your mother in law, that's fine. OK we can do a short visit this time and make adjustments for the next meeting as we learn each other's schedules, etc. Look forward to meeting you! Lisa

Wanted to let you know that I am also a member of another playgroup. Trish is the organizer and she is great about planning lots of things at all different times. She has a 3 1/2 year old boy and another member that I have met so far has a littlle boy around the same age and a little girl younger and close to our little one's age. She is based in Venice but also makes plans for Sarasota and beyond. She only has a few members now participating so I am passing the word around in case my group gets no more members and you would like to join another group too! Website is :

Thanks for the tip on the other group. I'll check it out. I'm glad GWIZ was fun! We plan to go soon. I took Annabelle back to the mall play yard over the weekend so my husband could see how she did. She enjoyed it but there was a really bratty kid there who seemed like he was maybe 3 or 4 and kept crying and running around all crazy. He made me nervous because he was a big kid!
I'm just looking forward to the nice weather so we can start venturing out a bit more.

Touching base with you to say hi! I am going to plan a meetup with a group I get together with occasionally, and wanted to invite you to meet us. We are going to Lakewood Ranch, main street first friday event. The link to the website with info is:

We are planning to go next week Friday. We can plan to meet between 6 - 7 pm if you are interested...I know it is a bit hot but hopefully there is some shade.

Please give me your thoughts on activities for the next playdate. Kelly sorry I missed you Friday. I was thinking of doing a park playdate sometime this week late afternoon/early evening? Any days work better for you? Hope that you are enjoying your weekend! Lisa

Hey there, Lisa. Yes, sorry I didn't make it on Friday. I've been sick the last few days and before that Annabelle and my husband were. I still am a bit sick but I'm starting to finally get over it.
No particular days work better for me. The whole week's schedule is basically the same. I get home around 4pm. The weather seems to be the slightest bit cooler. Meeting at a park sounds like a good idea. Any ideas on where you'd like to go?
There's a toddler playground near the YMCA at Potter Park. There's also Urfer park or a really small playground at Red Bug Slough on Beneva.
I'm up for anything. Let me know what works best for you.

Hi Kelly,

I haven't been to Red Bug Slough on Beneva in ages and ages, and not since Garen was born, so lets plan to meet there at the playground area.

My work schedule actually changes throughout the week (it is fairly flexible depending upon what hours I decide to work). Lets plan for either Thursday or Friday if that works for you.

If you work until 4, what time would be best for you to meet?

If Thursday, around 6:30 or after would be best for me to meet.

Fridays I usually work shorter days and this Friday I don't have anything planned in the afternoon thus far so I would be very flexible in the afternoon times. (If you work until 4 then I could meet anytime from 4pm onward).

Let me know your preference of day and time and then we can make concrete plans! Look forward to see you again - Lisa
